This will be my last newsletter as your Commander. It truly has been a pleasure for me to
serve as your Commander, but it’s time to move on. If you have not heard by now, I will be
running for Department vice Commander at our convention this June. I do hope that I have
your support in trying to advance in the Legion. Thank You again for allowing me to serve
you. Also you will notice this year that Bob Bournival is not running for Adjutant at our post. He
also feels it is time to let new people in to keep our post going. I personally wish to extend a
big THANK YOU to Bob for all the years he served as our adjutant, it is a big commitment and
he’s done an outstanding job over the many years. He is going to stay on as houseman, and
for that I say thanks Bob. And while I am thanking people, at this time I want to thank all of the
people on the E-BOARD for helping with the daily business of our post. If you haven’t been in
the post in the last few weeks, you’re in for a treat when you do come in. We are in
possession of a brand new TV. A 50 inch Plasma TV has been purchased for our post.
Thanks to the work of the AUXILIARY AND THE SONS for holding a raffle and purchasing the
TV for the post. It does prove when we work together for a common goal, things happen. So
for everything that everyone does for the Post, THANKS. It’s because of all of you that I was
able to be successful as Commander. I would not be able to have done it alone.
We had our nominations for officers at our last meeting. The election of officers will be held on
Feb. 16th from noon until 7pm. At that time the ballots will be counted and the results will be
reported at the meeting that night. I have 2 people on the balloting committee, and I need 1
more person to help out that day. If someone is interested in helping out, you can not be on
the ballot, please getting in touch with me. Please come out and vote. I know that the people
are unopposed but it will show them that they have your support. It’s a good feeling to know
that the people are going to support you. The people running for office are as follows:
Commander: Bob Dionne
Sr. Vice Commander: Vernon Leighton
Jr. Vice Commander: Don Parent
Adjutant: John Lemire
Finance Officer: Bob Blais
Judge Advocate: Robert Bournival
Sgt. At Arms: Paul Janes
Historian: open
Chaplain: Gary Cloutier
Service Officer: Gary Wayman
Executive Board: Lloyd Clement, Robert Philbrook, Tom Hanley
Delegates to convention:
Vernon Leighton, Robert Philbrook, Tom Hanley, Robert Blais, Robert Dionne, John Lemire
Alternate Delegates to convention:
Vernon Leighton, Robert Philbrook, Tom Hanley, Robert Blais, Robert Dionne, John Lemire
Once again please come down and VOTE.
Our membership is going a little bit slow. Membership reflects, on the Commander and the
Adjutant. Wouldn’t it be nice if the last year for Bob Bournival and me could end with a 100%
membership? What a nice way for us to end our term. It can be done, but it can only be done
with your help. If you have not yet sent in your membership dues for this year, now would be a
good time to get it done. $25 per year for the privilege of being in the American Legion is
pretty cheap. It is the largest veteran’s organization in this country, and you’re a member of it.
Be proud, and help us achieve 100%.
Upcoming events at Jutras, remember we have our meeting the 3rd Tuesday of every month,
try to attend. We also have our Thursday night dinners at Jutras, prepared by our own Chef
Bob. It’s always a great meal, and only $8. This month, Feb. will be a ham supper. All of the
proceeds will be donated to the Haiti Fund. They suffered a terrible tragedy, and can use the
help. So come on down and join us, and at the same time you will be helping Haiti. Other
events in the next few months are as follows: Every Thursday night is KARAOKI NIGHT at the
Jutras. It’s always a fun night so come on down and join us, maybe even join us in singing.

Feb. 10th: VA BINGO 7PM
Feb. 16th: ELECTION OF OFFICERS AT POST

Bob Blais
